Elegant Stinkhorn (Mutinus elegans)

Elegant Stinkhorn (Mutinus elegans)

Mutinus elegans is a species of fungus commonly known as the elegant stinkhorn, the dog stinkhorn, faeces carota, the headless stinkhorn, or the devil's dipstick. This unusual mushroom relies on flies and other insects to spread its spores. Attracted by strong foul odor, insects feed on the brown slimy substance that contains spores of the fungus and then carry them to other grounds.
